ORLEN Neptun becomes the Strategic Partner of the 13th Edition of the Postgraduate Programme in Offshore Wind Energy at Gdańsk University of Technology

On 6 March 2026, the 13th edition of the postgraduate programme in offshore wind energy was inaugurated for the 2025/2026 academic year at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Ship Technology of Gdańsk University of Technology. The strategic partner of this edition is ORLEN Neptun – the offshore wind energy competence centre within the ORLEN Group. The company’s portfolio includes two offshore wind farms — Baltic East and Baltic West — as well as Poland’s first offshore wind installation terminal, the Świnoujście Offshore Terminal.

“Commitment to educational initiatives is important to us in the context of ensuring a qualified workforce for the growing offshore wind energy sector in Poland, as well as supporting the domestic component of this industry. The demand for specialists with relevant education continues to grow. Among our team we have experts with extensive experience from the construction phase of the first Polish offshore wind farm in the Baltic Sea, as well as from the wider European market, and it is them who will share their knowledge with the programme’s participants during lectures and practical classes,” emphasizes Janusz Bil, President of the Management Board of ORLEN Neptun.

“Offshore wind energy is a key driver of development for Pomerania and Poland, strengthening the country’s energy security. Cooperation with ORLEN Neptun enhances the practical dimension of education, giving participants access to up-to-date market experience and real project challenges. At Gdańsk University of Technology, we consistently shape our programmes so that the competencies gained at the university help students enter the sector—whether they are just beginning their journey or supplementing their professional experience with specialized knowledge. We want to open doors to the industry together with partners who actively help shape this market in practice,” says Professor Krzysztof Wilde, Rector of Gdańsk University of Technology.

The programme is aimed at higher education graduates interested in acquiring knowledge about offshore wind energy, the fastest-growing renewable energy technology in the world. Students will expand their competencies in technologies used within the sector. The curriculum also covers the functioning of offshore wind energy markets and all aspects of preparing and implementing offshore wind farm projects in the Polish Exclusive Economic Zone of the Baltic Sea.
