The Baltic West project covers four areas located on the Oder Bank, which are being developed in parallel. The planned total installed capacity is about 4 GW, which will translate into clean energy for more than 5 million households in Poland. All four locations are being prepared to participate in the Polish support system for offshore wind farms.
All of the locations have permits erect or use artificial islands, structures and devices, as well as preliminary conditions for connection to the transmission grid. ORLEN Neptun is continuing its environmental surveys, and in the coming months it plans to begin a series of further site surveys, including among others, wind surveys and surveys to identify the geotechnical conditions of water regions.
ORLEN Neptun has entered into a reservation agreement with the Kołobrzeg Sea Port Authority. This agreement includes the reservation of land in the Kolobrzeg Sea Port, which will enable the preparation of a service port for the Baltic West offshore wind farm.
The commercial operation date, i.e. the moment when the offshore wind farm will start generating electricity (known as the COD), is estimated to be 2034+.
Location
The projects being developed as part of Baltic West will be located on the Oder Bank, approximately 26.5 kilometers from the Baltic coast.
The planned area of the Baltic West project is about 445 km2 with depths from about 28 to 40 meters below sea level.
Estimated area and capacity of each location
14.E.1: ~80 km²; ~800 MW,
14.E.2: ~90 km²; ~900 MW,
14.E.3: ~125 km²; ~1200 MW,
14.E.4: ~150 km²; ~1200 MW.
