Baltic East is the most advanced offshore wind project developed by ORLEN Neptun. The planned farm off approx. 110 km2 area holds the potential ~1 GW of power capacity and will be able to provide sustainable energy to 1,25 million households.
The project is developed on the basis of the decision of the Ministry of Infrastructure from October 2023, which granted five new seabed lincenses for offshore wind farms in the Baltic Sea with a total capacity of approx. 5,2 GW.
Location
The planned Baltic East farm will be located on the Slupska Bank, approximately 22,5 km from the Baltic Sea shore. This area is adjacent to the ~1,2 GW Baltic Power wind farm, which is currently under construction (COD expected in 2026). Baltic Power is a joint venture project of ORLEN Group and Northland Power.
The planned area of Baltic East farm is ~ 110 km2 with seabed deapth reaching between 25 and 40 meters below sea level.
Estimated technical parameters of the wind farm
In accordance with the current development plans of the Baltic East project, the offshore wind farm will consist of approx. 65 wind turbines with each turbine of 14-20 MW capacity, depending of a chosen technology. The turbines will be installed on the monopile or jacket foundations. HVAC is the expected power transmission technology to the National Energy System, provided by up to 2 offshore substations (OSS), 1 offshore substation (ONS) and 4 export cable arrays.

Project timeline
According to the current project timeline, the Baltic East project is developed in a schedule enabling it to participate at the National Offshore Auction, scheduled for 2025. ORLEN Neptun offshore wind excellence centre is proceeding the initial phase works, including preparations to a wide range of environmental surveys, project design and consenting.
Supply chain
The comprehensive suply chain for the Baltic East project is under construction. At the current development phase the following suppliers are researched:
- Project design
- Engineering consultancy
- Geotechnical and site surveys
- Tier 1 manufacturers of key components of offshore wind farms
In order to provide the most efficient contact with project developers and entities interested in involvement in the projects developed by ORLEN Neptun, including Baltic East, a dedicated registration form for the suppliers has been launched.
We are going to organise the first SUPPLIER DAY for the Baltic East project in 2025. More details about the event will be released soon on ORLEN Neptun’s website.
